Rock Can Roll
West Towne Mall
Monday, April 3rd –Sunday, April 29th
Community members are invited to attend the 8th Annual Canstruction® Madison event on April 23-29 at West Towne Mall in Madison, WI. Hosted by Middleton Outreach Ministry, the competition calls on teams to end hunger by building structures of canned goods and packaged food. All food is donated to the MOM Food Pantry, serving Madison, Middleton and Cross Plains. This year’s theme is “Rock Can Roll”.
The Canstruction® Madison build day will take place on Monday, April 23 throughout West Towne Mall. Supplies are sponsored by individuals, businesses and groups. Audiences will vote for their favorite canned goods structure from Tuesday, April 24 to Sunday, April 29 through Facebook and Instagram, or in-person. The “People’s Choice” prize, as well as various awards, will be distributed at the Award Ceremony on April 29 in the mall Food Court.
Prior to the Awards Ceremony, the structures are judged by design professionals and community leaders. Many awards are given, including youth only categories. The final award is decided by the community, who vote for the People’s Choice Award. Trophies are awarded for use of color, creativity and engineering.
“Canstruction® not only brings friends and colleagues together to give back while team building, but is an opportunity for the community to see how people can come together to benefit those in need. Each can is food for families and another step towards ending hunger,” says Shirley Nennig, MOM Distribution Center Manager.
Canstruction® Madison 2018 is generously presented by Godfrey & Kahn, Associated Bank, and Chase Brieman of CBRE.
