Can Film Festival
West Towne Mall
Monday, April 24th –Sunday, April 30th
Community members are invited to attend the 7th Annual Canstruction® Madison event on April 24-30 at West Towne Mall in Madison, WI. Hosted by Middleton Outreach Ministry, the competition calls on teams to end hunger by building structures of canned goods and packaged food. All food is donated to the MOM Food Pantry, serving Madison, Middleton and Cross Plains. This year’s theme is “Can Film Festival”.
The Canstruction® Madison build day will take place on Monday, April 24 from 6am to 9pm, throughout West Towne Mall. Supplies are sponsored by individuals, businesses and groups. Audiences will vote for their favorite canned goods structure from Tuesday, April 25 to Sunday, April 30 through Facebook and Instagram, or in-person. The “People’s Choice” prize, as well as various awards, will be distributed at the Award Ceremony on April 30 in the mall Food Court, featuring emcee Amy Carlson, NBC15.
Prior to the Awards Ceremony, the structures are judged by design professionals and community leaders. Many awards are given, including youth only categories. The final award is decided by the community, who vote for the People’s Choice Award. Trophies are awarded for use of color, creativity and engineering.
“Canstruction® not only brings friends and colleagues together to give back while team building, but is an opportunity for the community to see how people can come together to benefit those in need. Each can is food for families and another step towards ending hunger,” says Shirley Nennig, MOM Distribution Center Manager.
“It is because of the dedication of our sponsors, the team members and those who attend Canstruction® each year, that this event is possible,” says Al Ripp, Executive Director of MOM.
Canstruction® Madison 2017 is generously presented by Godfrey & Kahn and Associated Bank.
