Middleton Outreach Ministry (MOM) calls for local teams to build structures of cans and packaged food at the 5th Annual Canstruction® Madison, a community competition to end hunger taking place on Monday, April 20th at West Towne Mall. Canstruction® Madison brings local businesses, architects, engineers, students and community members together to build imaginative structures out of canned goods and packaged food. Supplies used are donated to the MOM Food Pantry, serving Madison, Middleton and Cross Plains. Following a year when MOM distributed one million pounds of food to people in need, this year’s theme calls on Superheroes to end hunger.
“Every can makes a real difference in someone’s life. Our dedicated Canstruction participants raised over 140 tons of food for the pantry over the past four years and we hope this year will bring us even closer to ending hunger in the area,” says Al Ripp, MOM Executive Director.
The 2015 venue, West Towne Mall, will allow for an entire week of community structure viewing and voting. Structures will be displayed from Tuesday, April 21st to Sunday, April 26th. Each will be evaluated by design professionals and community leaders based on color, creativity and engineering. The “People’s Choice Award” will be voted on by the community in-person, through Facebook and Instagram, and announced at the Awards Ceremony on Sunday, April 26th at the mall Food Court.
